ALL-STAR PROGRAM
The purpose of the All-Star program is to provide those Coaches and Players who have demonstrated superior skills, effort, attitude, team play, and commitment the opportunity to continue to develop their coaching and playing skills in a more competitive environment against teams with similar skills. All-Star play starts at the 10U level and continues through 14U. All-Star play is highly competitive, and is often a stepping stone for those who wish to tryout for the EXTRA program.
All-Star teams are formed in November and typically start practices in December. The Area 11K All-Star tournament consists of teams from the five Regions that make up Area 11K (5, 55, 56, 117, and 143). The winning teams advance to the Section 11 All-Star tournament.
PLAYER SELECTION Players for the All-Star teams are chosen by the All-Star Committee based upon their performance in games during the fall season and an All-Star selection or tryout process. The selection and tryout process may also include input from selected coaches who have coached in the respective division during the fall season or are qualified based on their experience.
A full commitment to all All-Star games, tournaments, and practices is required to be considered for selection to the All-Star team.
COACH SELECTION
Coaches in good standing with the Region are selected by a committee of Region Board Members, including select Executive Board members and with input from division coordinators. In selecting coaches, the Board will consider, among other things, coaching ability, years of experience, higher levels of coaching certifications, additional training accomplished, Referee certification, discipline record, and demonstrated sportsmanship of the candidate. Volunteer service to the Region will also be considered.
Each All-Star teams must have a Head Coach and Assistant Coach who meet the following minimum requirements to be considered:
- Must have been a Coach or Assistant Coach in AYSO in the current fall season
- Must have the minimum coaching certification required for that age division
- Must have all volunteer requirements completed
Coaches wishing to apply should request an application from the division coordinator.
